From Destruction to Perfection: Interdisciplinary Smile Reconstruction Beyond the Boundaries
Abstract
Severe bite collapse, tooth malalignment, and multiple tooth loss constitute complex clinical challenges that require a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach. This case highlights the essential role of orthodontics in achieving precise tooth alignment and occlusal rehabilitation, thereby establishing an optimal foundation for prosthodontic intervention. The prosthodontic phase incorporates implant-supported restorations, advanced occlusal management, and material selection based on biomechanical principles. Integration of digital dentistry technologies—including 3D imaging, virtual implant planning, and CAD/CAM prosthetic design—enhances diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning, and clinical execution. This case study demonstrates the critical sequencing and collaboration between orthodontic tooth movement and prosthodontic reconstruction necessary for restoring function and esthetics in severe bite collapse and complex malocclusion. The insights presented provide evidence-based clinical protocols to support effective management of these challenging cases, advancing interdisciplinary treatment approaches within orthodontic practice.
